It presents a challenging yet rewarding gameplay experience with a twist on survival mechanics, resource gathering, progression, and exploration. Key Features
  • Immersed Gameplay: RLCraft brings a whole new Minecraft experience, making you fight for your survival from the moment you spawn — crafting tools from flint shards, keeping yourself hydrated, and watching your temperature.
  • Overhauled Start: RLCraft isn't as straightforward as punching a tree for wood. You must forage for sticks and fibre to craft your first tools, making this one of the most immersive modpacks Shivaxi has offered to the community.

FAQ

How do I start on the modpack?

RLCraft has a steep learning curve, so here are some essential tips to get you going (provided by Shivaxi on CurseForge):

  • Right-click to pick up an item you're looking at, or crouch to pick up items in a radius around you.
  • You can't punch trees — blocks require their proper tools to harvest, otherwise they won't drop anything.
  • Get flint from gravel, get sticks by breaking tree leaves. Hold flint and right-click on a hard surface (stone) to smash it into flint shards. Combine a stick and a flint shard to make a flint knife. Use the knife to cut grass for fibre, and 3 fibre = 1 grass string.
  • Make a flint hatchet using a stick, grass string, and flint shard. You can look up any recipe in your inventory using the bottom-right search bar.
  • Use the hatchet to chop trees. Place wood on the ground and right-click with the axe to chop into planks; do the same with planks to get sticks.
  • Rocks are scattered on the ground — right-click to pick them up. Craft 4 together in a 2x2 to make cobblestone. A stick + cobblestone makes a dagger, a good starting weapon.
  • Drink water by crouching and right-clicking on a water source block with an empty hand. You can also drink from rain.
  • 3 wool makes a sleeping bag — note it won't set your spawn point. Waystones set your spawn; if you dislike your spawn, don't activate one.
  • Press H to see locational hit damage. Helmets are important — you will get headshot without one.
  • At level 5, press L (or the skill tab in your inventory) to choose your specialisation. Items list their skill requirements, e.g. you need 8 attack to use an iron sword.
  • Combat heat and cold with campfires, wool clothing, potions, ice armour, and more.
  • String and grass string can both be turned into wool.
  • Birch wood can be crafted into paper.
  • Exploring and finding shelter early is a good idea — shelter may even provide starting items.
  • If it looks like it will kill you, it probably will.

How do I install the modpack? How much RAM should I allocate?

Detailed instructions on how to install the modpack and allocate RAM can be found on this page. It is recommended to allocate between 6GB and 12GB of RAM. Allocating more than 12GB can cause issues.
