You begin in isolation, surrounded by stone, and must carve out your existence from solid rock using hammers, brushes, and a progression system built around uncovering increasingly valuable resources. Deep within the stone lie the Vaults, handcrafted challenge dungeons filled with logic puzzles, and unique combat encounters. Completing them rewards rare loot and progression materials that cannot be obtained any other way.
Rather than traditional mining, you brush blocks like gravel, dirt, sand, and dust to extract material chunks, with your Unearther level unlocking access to better and more diverse ores over time. The overarching goal is to power the World Engine, an ancient structure whose secrets are uncovered through interacting with Echoes, holographic remnants of the civilisations that came before.
